Sad News

Just 2 days ago I listed the artists that I am paying tribute to in Everybody I Shot Is Dead. Sadly, I will have to add another name to the list.

Gene Pitney.

His body was found in his room at the Hilton Hotel in Cardiff by his tour manager. He was in the middle of his 23-date UK tour. He was 65.

Is that a picture of Gene? Really? I wouldn't have known it was. What year?

Thanks for dropping by The CRIB ... come back often, love to have you visit.

PS Love the book Title ... excellent!

Yes, it's Gene. I shot him Epic during a recording session. It was in L.A. so off the top of my head I'd say '76 or '77.

I just pulled this shot out of the box today and scanned it. I'll write something more about him later. I don't have time right now, but I'm going to enhance this photo so I can read the lyric sheet. Would be cool to know what song he was working on.

Thanks for the visit - hope you will bookmark me.

So sad! And what a strange way to learn of this (I was in transit and missed the news) -- He was a major, major voice in the voice-o-sphere...

The biggest "hit" my band (Billy and the Mernits) ever had, live, was our cover of TOWN WITHOUT PITY.
He'll be missed.
