Happy Blog Birthday!!!

And here's a gift for you (scroll up to post 1).

Where's the party???

Where's the party?

You found it.

Thanks for the awesome gift. I especially liked the wrapping.

So I emailed the Eric guy to try and locate Fred Kaplan - did you know he also played with Hollywood Fats? - but the email bounced back. Do you think you can find Fred Kaplan?

And why don't you have all the info I need on Peter Wood? Are you slacking? I'll give you an extra piece of birthday cake.

What search engine are you using? You really make me feel inadequate.

Congratulations, Deborah!

And so many interesting photos & stories..

My favourite one is that of my hero Lowell George, back in 75. I was flabbergasted to see how healthy he looked then.

Anyway, would also be interested in some Dennis Wilson stuff (love the Beach Boys as well)

Thanks so much for keeping on posting!

Martin

Thanks for coming, Martin.

I caught Lowell at a good time. Happy and full of life.

And I also love Dennis Wilson. I'm having trouble editing his pictures. Don't want to leave anything out.

Take an extra piece of cake.

>> Do you think you can find Fred Kaplan?

I think your best bet would be to contact Kim Wilson (of Fabulous Thunderbirds fame). It looks like he's even playing in your neck of the woods next month, at the Ritz Carlton in Pasadena, on May 5th at 8pm. I read that Kaplan was the VP of Wilson's short lived Blue Collar Music company.

>> And why don't you have all the info I need on Peter Wood?

Unfortunately (and as you well know), there's not much on-line information to be had regarding Peter Wood. I would start with an email to cyndilauper@cyndilaupersite.com. I read somewhere that they were close friends, and once she learns of your project, I'm sure she will be glad to provide you what you need.

>> Are you slacking?

Why yes, it's my favorite pastime... :-)

>> What search engine are you using?

Sometimes, if you can't find what you need with google web search, try searching google groups or google news archives.

Thanks for joining us, Peg. And your kind greeting and continued support.

Thanks, Dave.

Re Peter Wood - doubting that Cyndi Lauper will answer an email in time, I've tried sending something to Tim Renwick who was in several bands with him. Also, found a site that said he had drug and alcohol problems (how odd) but that his death was ruled a suicide. Guess I shouldn't have lost touch with him. We had a lot of fun together.

Speaking of fun, let's have a margarita in Peter Wood's honor.

Here's another post by another person that was corresponding directly with Fred Kaplan back in 1998. You never know...his email address might still work.

Also, I found this page on archive.org, from March 2005, with Fred's bio. It says he lives in the LA area. I hope you can locate him. It seems he's had a pretty interesting life.

Thanks, Dave. I sent an email to the Blue Collar address.

Also, heard back from the guy who said Peter Wood may have committed suicide. He forwarded my email to Tim Renwick (who I also blind emailed through his website) so who knows.

The bluecollarmusic.com domain name no longer exists, so you probably won't get a response from there. I was thinking you might want to try the author of the post I linked to, T. Roy Matthews (tbone01@earthlink.net).

(sorry about the previous deleted posts. I guess blogger doesn't handle mailto: links correctly, and apparently won't even let you edit your own posts) :-/

Okay, Boss.

I took care of it.

The way you told me to do it this time.

Funny, I didn't get a bounce-back on the other one I sent.

Chesher Cat said...

Well, I got a bounce-back on that address.

I belong to the Paul Butterfield board. I'll post on there and see if anybody knows him.

Okay...here's one last shot!

It appears Fred Kaplan is currently a member of the Hollywood Blue Flames (reunited members of the Hollywood Fats Band). They're with Delta Groove Productions, which has a street address, (hopefully) good e-mail address, and phone/fax numbers.

If this is also a dead end, I'll just shut up and go back to slacking...

"I'll just shut up and go back to slacking..."

No. Don't do that.

I have another task for you tomorrow.

BTW, I'm doing the Lowell George layout right now. So many pictures. Tough to edit them out.

Snip, snip, snip.

RollUmEasy said...

Nooooooooo!!! Put them all in!!! Spare no expense... ;-)

P.S. The Hollywood Blue Flames are playing at Mozambique in Laguna Beach on April 1st, 15th, and 29th, from 5-8pm. If all else fails, you could show up and meet him in person.

Damn, I just remembered that I'm going to be in SoCal from the 22nd to the 28th. If I had known this info sooner, I'd have planned to stay an extra day and catch a show, too.

Are you going to be in L.A.?

Close, Orange County.
