Remembering John Hartford

The brilliant and very interesting life of John Hartford was cut short by non-hodgkin’s lymphoma on this day eight years ago.

In case you're fuzzy on who he is, John wrote the multi-Grammy winning song, Gentle On My Mind. And for those of you who are too young to remember that song, he also won a Grammy for his contributions to the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack.

12/30/1937-6/4/01

I love this performance of Gentle on Mind...

And for something completely different...

What a great talent he was, and he was fortunate to be able to pursue what he wanted, on his own terms. On another note, that milk commercial is kinda funny. All natural milk - as the girl with her all natural roots showing her blonde dye job, chokes down a few gulps of milk and makes a not so convincing grin after. Ah, life was simpler then, wasn't it?
